Everything has a story

The stories we hear as children shape our view of the world. Most small children live their lives in quite a limited environment. Reading stories to children can show them far-flung places, extraordinary people, and eye-opening situations to expand and enrich their world.

Aesop’s tales, Fairytales, Grimms tales, Panchtantra tales have ruled the children’s imagination since time immemorial, in joint families, there were ‘Nani Dadi ke kissey-kahaniyan’ but in today’s nuclear family scenario where the interaction with the children has decreased because both the parents are working and also because of electronics ruling our drawing rooms and bedrooms. Stories have become center stage for relating better life experiences to the children with values and mottos.

The best school in Noida believes reading aloud and sharing stories with your child is a great way to spend time together. Reading and storytelling also help promote language, literacy and brain development. Sharing stories, talking and singing every day helps your child’s development in lots of ways. Nowadays, with the tremendous amount of pressure on young parents, like the complexities of a nuclear family, a lesser amount of free time available, and the addiction towards technological gadgets, the art of storytelling for kids is somewhere getting lost.

In top primary school, you will find storytelling forms a crucial part of developing your child’s overall personality. It is an age-old tradition followed by parents since time immemorial that has been a part of most of our own childhood too.

“Just as computer simulations help us get to grips with complex problems like flying a plane or forecasting the weather, so novels, stories and dramas help us understand the complexities of social life”.

It can also be a great way of helping them deal with real-life situations that they need help to deal with. Researchers have found that the brain activity that occurs when we read fiction is very similar to experiencing that situation in real life, so reading about a situation helps children work out how to solve it in reality.

The benefits children get from having stories read to them are hugely increased when parents talk and ask questions about the story as well. Reading and sharing stories can:

·         help your child become familiar with sounds, words, language and the value of books
·         spark your child’s imagination, stimulate curiosity and help his brain development
·         help your child learn the difference between ‘real’ and ‘make-believe’
·         Help your child understand change and new or frightening events, and also the strong emotions that can go along with them
·         Help your child develop early literacy skills like the ability to listen to and understand words.

So tonight let us all start with storytelling sessions.

GOD IS THE CREATOR, SHOWS CORRECT PATH

As per the ancient sciences, divinity is energy and it is the pure energy when it burst forth in the form of the big bang that creation happened. In its wake, all the celestial happenings and earthlings were created. Different religions have a different interpretation and different Gods for the celebrations but one thing is for sure that “all that is created is destroyed and then recreated such as life and death and the spiral of life continues and hence Shiva is called the destroyer and giver.” Maha-Shivaratri, (Sanskrit: “Great Night of Shiva”) the most important festival of the year for devotees of the Hindu god Shiva. The 14th day of the dark half of each lunar month is especially sacred to Shiva, The preceding day the participant observes a fast and at night a vigil during which a special worship of the lingam (symbol of Shiva) is performed.

There are various interesting legends related to the festival of Maha Shivaratri. According to one of the most popular legends, Shivaratri marks the wedding day of Lord Shiva and Parvati. Some believe that it was on the auspicious night of Shivaratri that Lord Shiva performed the ‘Tandava’, the dance of the primal creation, preservation, and destruction. Another popular Shivratri legend stated in Linga Purana states that it was on Shivaratri that Lord Shiva manifested himself in the form of a Linga. Hence the day is considered to be extremely auspicious by Shiva devotees and they celebrate it as “Mahashivaratri - the grand night of Shiva.” People observe a strict fast on this day. The Shiva Lingam is worshipped throughout the night by doing Rudrabhishekam and chanting "Om Namah Shivaya" continues. Offerings of bael leaves are made to the Lingam. Bael leaves are very sacred as, it is said, Lakshmi resides in them. Shiva - the word meaning auspicious - is one of the Hindu Trinity, comprising of Lord Brahma, the creator, Lord Vishnu, the preserver and Lord Shiva or Mahesh, the Destroyer and Re-Producer of life. He, who utters the names of Shiva during Shivratri, with perfect devotion and concentration, is freed from all sins.

And the onus of relating all ancient occasions to the source and interpreting them as best as possible lies on the best schools. On this pious occasion, students of pre-primary and best primary school of Noida Expressway were taken to see a huge idol of Lord Shiva and children offered the offerings of Bael/Berries and flowers. We all wish Mahashivratri to everyone to continue the dance of creation.

Early detection saves lives.

The more we have progressed with the medicines to combat illness of modern lifestyle ailments, the more we have digressed in terms of diseases brought in by eating genetically modified foods and restive lives that we lead. Despite medical science progress, the word “C” is still the most feared word in the world. Yes, here we are referring to cancer.

For every 1000 women who undergo breast cancer screening, 3 to 5 breast cancer diagnoses. A screening mammogram is the best method to detect early and treatable breast cancer. When breast cancer is found early, most women get better and get back to their normal lives. Breast cancer starts at 0, which is abnormal cancerous cells are still within the original site of the breast where they started. An important goal of breast cancer screening programs is to encourage women to begin to participate in screening at an earlier age and to have retests every one and two years.

Being the best school in Noida, we are extremely sensitive to this issue. So we organized in association with Yuvraj Singh Foundation, Breast Cancer Detection Camp for all the female members of our institution. We are positive that if we are sensitive to this rampantly spreading illness, early detection will save lives.

School maintains a small kitchen garden to explain children the interest to give them a sense of wonder and respect for plants. Gardening is a fantastic way to spend time together with the kids. As a gardener, wonders can be done with little seeds. Kids get to learn about different kinds and sizes of leaves. The children can dig into the dirt to grow different flowers and vegetables like fresh coriander leaves, spinach, mint leaves etc. Food can be grown for the entire family with a vegetable garden. Vegetable gardens can be of any size and any kind of vegetables can be planted. Growing vegetables will make healthy families as what you grow is what you eat. Children get to learn how to take care of the earth by planting a garden as planning a garden can be exciting for the kids because they can have choices of the plants they want to grow. For example, a pizza garden can have plants to like tomatoes, peppers, onions, and basil to make a pizza. Plants can create a beautiful environment, whether they are in a garden, a raised bed or a pot, for the children as they can enjoy every stage of the process. Working together on a garden with children is togetherness time. It builds a bond with the children and creates memories while the children learn a lifelong love of growing things just like – how they think, what they like and dislike and how capable they really are. The feeling of sowing a seed at the backyard or balcony and seeing it grow and bringing in the fresh green coriander leaves, mint leaves, spinach or cherry tomatoes on the plate is a pride for the children as they get to share healthy food nurtured by their own efforts.

As the best school on Noida expressway, JBM School has taken the responsibility for teaching school students about the importance of plantation so that they can give something back to the Mother Nature. Growing flowers in a garden can also be fun for the small children. Flowers bloom as per the season as some flowers like the sun and others like to grow in shady spots. Spending time in a flower garden can help the children learn about different flowers and its colors.

Gardens are magical, fun and always full of surprises. Gardening with children, from toddlers to adolescents opens new windows in a world dominated by technology as it is just a healthy, therapeutic thing to teach about the living soil.
